As it's gender separated full nakedness is the normal dress code. As such access is restricted to men and women separately on consecutive days. There are no changing rooms as such, instead there are lockers you use at the side of the pool. You can pay a higher fee to gain access to the first floor with relaxing day beds, additional saunas and the ability to order food and drink. €5.50 is the entrance fee for the ground floor only. The swimming pool is divided into three lanes however you do need to be a confident swimmer as the deep end is around 3 metres deep. Two saunas on the lower level, one hotter than the other, are really good and very spacious so you never feel squashed. I visited several times as it's a really good way to spend a few hours in cold or wet Helsinki. Step back in time when you enter the swimming hall with its lovely Victorian era decor. It's a great place to relax and unwind passing a couple of hours particularly during the long and dark Finnish winter, I absolutely recommend it. There are plenty of showers all with good water pressure and temperature controls. The saunas are set at two different temperatures, the hotter one at 85c which is excellent and very relaxing however, don't be tempted to take a towel in the sauna, no other man does, just sweat and shower off, sweat and shower off, you won't recognise how clean you are afterwards. The temperature is comfortable, access is either by shallow steps at one end or ladders along the side. The pool is in lanes, slow, fast and run although at the deepest point it's more than 3m so you need to start swimming there too. If you've never done that before don't be put off, it's all very relaxed and don't be tempted to wear trunks because you will look odd and out of place. There are notices up around the place that have trunks with a line drawn through them indicating the fact that they are not worn but that's quite normal in Finland.

There are no changing rooms because the days are single sex and indeed you don't get changed, you undress because in the pool and saunas the dress code is naked. On the second floor you will have a changing cubicle with a bed to rest if you wish, on the first floor you will have a locker along the side of the pool. If you just want to swim and have a sauna the first floor is fine as that's where the pool and two of the saunas are. The second floor offers additional facilities including food and drink and a towel robe. On arrival you have the choice of the first floor or after 13.00 also the second floor. Tickets are timed for two hours although it is possible to stay longer for an additional fee. I have no idea if anything is different on women's days. The days are segregated for men and women, what I say relates to men's days because that's what I have experience of. I've been to this place several times over the years, it's close to the place I usually stay in Helsinki.
